So... your probably thinking... this is way random.. yeah I know right?!  Well, I am gifting a shower/baby gift this week so it is on my mind.  I've had a few babies y'all.  I feel very worthy of speaking about this topic based on my own personal experiences and feelings.  Babies are such a blessing, they need to be celebrated and gifted!!  However, gifting can be tricky...  Follow me here..

My first was born, almost 9 years ago now (SERIOUSLY HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE)  Anyway, back on track Sam...  So, my first was such a celebration.  See, when we found out we were pregnant with Carter, we had also just found out (3 weeks prior) that my mom had an aggressive, form of blood cancer that would take her life.  I feel like this whole topic needs a blog of its own so... that will be coming soon...  You will need some tissues for it, promise..  But... I remember feeling overwhelmed.

I was asked to do a registry so people could gift us things.  Well, I just went off of what I assumed we needed and ran with it.  Back then, Rob and I were piss pore and didn't have any sort of internet, via phones or at our apartment.  So, we just cruised the isles of target with those little scanners and got what we wanted.  We also did one at Babies-R-Us (MAN I MISS THAT STORE) same thing, a little scanner and some hope that we knew what we were doing.

First, we knew we wanted more kids.  I didn't want "the big stuff" to be blue or represent a boy.  I wanted gender neutral things.  This was back when the whole neutral décor wasn't such a vibe so.... that kind of thing was hard to come by.  I feel like all the big stuff needs to be neutral!  It makes for an easy transition to any space and... wont be a problem when/if a sibling of another gender comes along.   If your not going to be getting one of those larger piece on the registry (I don't blame you) follow me...

When I gift someone a baby gift, I go by a few rules..  EVERY TIME....  NO CLOTHES!!!!  Listen, I know it's super hard to not want to buy ALL. THE. CLOTHES trust me, I get it!!!  However, what YOU think is cute might not be the parents definition of cute.  Plus, EVERYONE buys clothes!!!  And... not only do they buy clothes they buy Newborn/infant sizes.  That leaves the parents stuck with all kinds of clothes that will most likely, still have tags on after the baby has outgrown that size.  Its a true story.  NO CLOTHES!!!

This was my bother, me and my sweet momma at my baby shower she threw for me.  She was so proud.

Mom deserves a special gift or two herself.  Make her feel loved and appreciated just like baby is!  This can be a candle, good chocolates, a coffee gift card or nice lotions.  Always include a little something in there for the mommas!

Let me show you what I put together for a 2020 baby arrival!  This kiddo is a boy and is 2 months old.  I always do baskets.  I make a cute basket filled with different, practical items.  Organizers are a HUGE plus!!   When you have a baby, organization is key and having lots of different organizers is a great thing to have.  Not only are they useful for baby but... all over the house for different things!  Its a win, win.

Below is item descriptions of each thing along with my "why they are in there"!!
.
.
I started with a large basket.  This one is plastic and is a neutral color so, even if they didn't need one for the baby, they can use it somewhere else.  Inside that bin is another smaller cloth bin which is also neutral in color.  This is great for ointments and extra diaper things.  There is also an over the door organizer, again, even if not needed for baby things can be used elsewhere in their home.

I stuffed the smaller bin with 2 packs of baby wipes.  Lets face it... you can NEVER have to many baby wipes!!

Next, since we are in 2020 and all...  Hand sanitizer and wipes are a MUST!  Now, as we all know, these items are few and far between these days so.. no links for these but..... try your local stores if this is something you want to fill your basket with!

My basket is looking something like this...  I added Destin, because like wipes, you can never have enough butt cream!

I added a Bath and Body works candle for mom.  I buy a boat load of these when they are on mega sale and save them to give as gifts throughout the year.  Its the perfect way to save money and give a great gift!  If you don't have one of those on hand, this is my next favorite candle.
.
.
The finishing touch is a toy and some Hershey kisses sprinkled in the basket for a sweet treat, some tissue paper to make it "giftable" and viola!

Your left with a super cute, SUPER practical gift idea!
